We’ve been looking for the perfect sconces for the dining room on Central Park West, we’re designing with the Art Deco flair. My associate, Jeffrey, found these great French stingray double light sconces by Louis Di Calla from Lewis Mittman at the D&D building. I think they’re the winner. They can be custom designed in any color you desire.

Design Diary: Get Me to the Apartment on Time
The maisonette apartment is almost done. The client is ready to move in. It’s a dash to the finish. At last count there were 14 workmen there: the kitchen company, Corian countertops installers, carpenters, cabinetmakers, painters, plumbers, electricians, mirror installers and all the last details. Here are some shots in progress:
Design Diary: Bit by Bit
Many people have been asking me how the job on the Upper West Side is going. It’s speeding along. If you recall, in February 2011 the client asked me to evaluate the property. Based on the online profile I thought it was a waste of time. Once I went there, I could see the possibilities. High ceilings, great garden, and with a complete rethinking it could be very special.
Two weeks ago, I went by late at night after a movie to show my friends. One of them had previewed the apartment with me on my first visit.
Based on the state of the project at that point my friends were skeptical. Now, two weeks later, much has been accomplished. The radiant heating is installed; the bleached ash floors are down; the kitchen is almost all installed; the countertops have been templated; the sliding glass doors are almost done; much of the cabinetry is installed; the painting is almost finished; the doors are all done and being finished; and the mirrors are ordered.
The move in date is set for August 22, and we are in good shape. Like all good shows, everything comes together at the last minute. Here are a few progress shots.
