Vanguard Furniture introduces Barry Goralnick’s “Blended Modern” capsule collection.

Barry Goralnick on the Collection

Barry Goralnick began his career as an architect.  From there, he has evolved into a notable designer of lighting, rugs, and furniture.  His distinctive designs are iconic for their versatility and unique design aesthetic.  Goralnick calls this style Blended Modern. No single time period predominates. There is a blending of beloved periods with a sensibility of now. While every SKU is unique, each possesses a common theme.  They are one-of-a-kind statement pieces that lend themselves to an individual eclectic design expression.  Goralnick explains his design philosophy: “No two people are alike, so no two rooms should be. Their home is an extension—and a unique expression—of their personal style.  Today, the ultimate success is living with ease.  It’s a casual glamour with a flare for the dramatic, but without the drama. Andy Bray on the Collection

Andy Bray, Vanguard’s President, illuminates: It is a modern, laid back Hollywood-at-home vibe.  Is has the spirit of Palm Springs in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s interpreted for today. Each item has a moniker from film. For example, one table is named Norma and is just as glamorous as its namesake. This collection is exciting and functional.  “We are designing martini tables for well… martinis.  And cocktail tables for well… cocktails.  Think of these as jewelry for your home.  We wanted to put the fun back into buying and enjoying furniture.  Nobody needs more of the same old thing.  Our showroom will be decked out in turquoise blues, oranges, and neutrals with fun pops of color.

Filling a Niche

In an increasingly competitive retail environment, Vanguard is providing retailers something that fills a profitable niche.  “Sometimes a customer just wants an accent piece; she doesn’t need a whole room.  And most of these items are designed to fit neatly in the trunk of an Uber or the back of an SUV.  It’s the kind of affordable indulgence that leads to an impulse purchase. The Blended Modern collection from Barry Goralnick consists of about 35 pieces: about a dozen upholstered items featuring vibrant feminine colors, sensual curves, and a relaxed refinement; and about 25 distinctive occasional case goods items—each of which features a flair for the exotic, such as mixed metals, glass, acrylic, wood, and stone.
